Book version-appropriate support before arrival
Send the intended workshop the VIN, production information, powertrain and known concerns. Ask what diagnostic and technical support it can provide, including high-voltage work where relevant to iDD. Use the powertrain guide if the source documents are unclear. Confirm which jobs require referral and whether suitable parts can be obtained. A general promise to service Chinese cars is less useful than a specific explanation of supported work. Keep any warranty question separate until the responsible provider confirms coverage for the imported vehicle.
Compare arrival condition with departure evidence
Photograph damage, warnings and missing items before ordinary preparation changes the evidence. Reconcile keys, documents and accessories with the transport handover list and follow the carrier's reporting requirements promptly. Do not clear diagnostic information or authorise cosmetic repair before relevant records are retained, except for necessary safety action. If the vehicle may not be safe to drive, obtain qualified handling advice. The journey from port to home is not a suitable experiment to determine whether a warning can be ignored.
Check tyres, 12V supply and accessible condition
Storage and transport can expose a weak low-voltage battery, tyre issues or visible leakage. Arrange suitable checks and record measured findings rather than assuming the car is ready because it starts once. The 12V and wake-up guide helps organise intermittent electrical concerns. Do not repeatedly jump-start without diagnosis or use the tyre sidewall maximum as a normal pressure target. Inspect brakes, steering and other safety-related systems through a competent workshop before treating the vehicle as ready for daily family use.
Reconcile the applicable service schedule and history
Gather invoices and compare documented work with the correct powertrain's time and distance requirements. Ask for specified fluids and procedures from appropriate technical information; do not invent universal grades or intervals. Missing records may justify a baseline, but each proposed item should have a reason. Gasoline engine and transmission work should not be confused with iDD hybrid-system requirements. The parts-matching guide is useful when the service reveals a replacement need or an existing component does not match the documented version.
For iDD, verify both charging and engine readiness
Use confirmed compatible charging equipment to establish ordinary charging operation and record any messages. This is not a full battery-health claim based on one session. Review the battery assessment if the history or findings call for deeper checks. The engine and fuel system still need the applicable maintenance review even when the buyer plans mostly electric trips. Do not open high-voltage components or improvise electrical repairs during handover. If the home installation is new, coordinate vehicle and property-side support so a charging failure is diagnosed accurately.
For gasoline, assess the actual road-use symptoms
Have a competent technician review relevant engine, cooling and transmission concerns and conduct an appropriate safe test where the car is fit to drive. The gasoline cooling and DCT guide provides a separate route from hybrid charging checks. Record cold and warm behaviour where relevant rather than accepting a brief stationary demonstration as proof of the whole drivetrain. Do not replace diagnosis with additives or fault clearing. A completed oil service does not close an unresolved overheating, shifting or warning concern.
Finish with a usable local ownership file
Keep the arrival inspection, maintenance performed, part identifiers, date, odometer reading and outstanding observations together. Confirm the normal cabin, tailgate and climate functions needed for your routine. Agree the next service point from the applicable schedule and documented work, not a generic reminder pasted onto every imported car. During early use, record repeatable symptoms and the conditions in which they occur. The final baseline should explain what is verified, what remains limited and where competent follow-up is available, without promising future reliability from a single workshop visit.
Buyer checklist
- Identify the powertrain and book suitable local support.
- Preserve arrival evidence before clearing or repairing.
- Use the correct schedule and verified history.
- Keep gasoline and iDD follow-up scopes distinct.
Questions and answers
Can the workshop use one service package for all UNI-Z vehicles?
Only where each included item is confirmed applicable. Gasoline and iDD powertrains need their own technical information and inspection priorities rather than a model-name-only package.
Does successful charging mean the iDD is ready for all use?
No. Charging is one check. Engine maintenance, tyres, brakes, low-voltage supply, safety systems and any documented concerns still need appropriate assessment.
Reference information
Use the applicable market and year documentation for equipment and operating limits. The references have their own market and publication scope; they do not establish the condition, fitted equipment or destination approval of an individual vehicle.
